Incredibly good food with incredibly bad service... who cares, the food is incredible! True, not super authentic Cuban but very delicious. THE FOOD: $5 happy hour menu is wonderful, so 4-7pm is the time to go. Tostones Rellenos - Ropa Viega: these were just okay, maybe the only item we didn't fight over? Sliders - Croqueta Preperada: delicious, I'd never had a coqueta slider before Sliders - Vaca Frita (Pork): absolutely amazing, you want to order these every time Flat Breads - Guava BBQ Pork: this was my favorite item on the table, I will never not order this! Perfect tangy/sweet combination with excellent quality pork Flat Breads - Bacon, Chorizo & Onions: this was the also a table favorite, the chorizo was lovely OTHER: Service - Stunningly bad! Highlights include: one waiter put a few things down on our table but didn't say what was what and when we asked she shrugged and walked away. When we asked to split the check (evenly among 3 people) we got a dirty look!? Water - we never got a refill, even after asking for one Website - I couldn't access the menus on IE but didn't check Chrome or Firefox Tapas - the happy hour menu is perfect for sharing Value - very low prices for really great food, this is definitely an excellent value meal Venue - it's a cuban café, as you'd expect it's a step up from fast food ambience but not elegant

A real find, extremely satisfying food. Had an authentic mouth watering Cuban Sandwich, sweet plantains and a mango smoothie. Great meal at a fair price. Highly recommend.

Delicious food at a reasonable price for the area. Service is quick and friendly. Food looks as delicious as it tastes. Really great to check out if you want to get away from the crowds and prices of Ocean Drive.

This place is so much fun! I love the old time Cuban feel and we shared a Cuban sampler between the two of us. It was delicious, especially the pork! Definitely get a mojito to go with it! We plan to go back if we have a chance.

Fair prices and the dish I had recommended was solid. If I were local I would make this a regular stop.

Hey good simple food at good location for locals and tourist. The place will never have troubles since Miami Beach's finest are there all the time. Service is bad but that is due to the lack of training so management needs to help the staff. Good prices and don't forget ice cream for dessert. My thing there is the cafe con leche served with the coffee in the metal cup and milk in the mug yummmmmmmy.

All good things must come to an end, even our weekend of Miami heaven in the midst of Northeastern winter hell. For our last meal we definitely wanted Cuban, even though we'd had quite a bit of it already; Polo Norte had the advantage of being a block from our bus stop, so we could look out for the airport shuttle while enjoying our dinner. (For the record, we made it in plenty of time, but it's such a lengthy process that I'd probably take a cab if I had to do it all over again.) This place was so slick inside that I guessed it was a chain, and sure enough it is -- five branches locally. The polar bear logo on the wall changes color slowly through the neon spectrum, and provided some visual stimulation. As usual, we wanted to order the whole menu, but settled on two dishes. She had the pork chunks with fried onions and black beans. They were wonderful, though not quite as good as what we'd had elsewhere. I tried the baby churrasco, and while I appreciated the option of a smaller steak, it was just too chewy for me. I'm pretty picky about beef, so maybe it was a bad choice. I was also disappointed that there was no chimichurri on the side; when I asked, they brought me a plastic cup of, basically, vinaigrette -- not the vibrant, spicy green paste I was hoping for. Our server was really sweet and the food came quickly after we told them we were catching a bus in half an hour. I can't say I'd go back, but it was a pleasant evening.

Only reason I didn't give them 5/5 is because nowhere is perfect. There food is amazing !! 4.7/5 !!

yes, not "real," Cuban but i really don't care as long as i get beaucoup meat and fried plantains. i was past starving when i got take-out from here one night. all i cared about was the amount of cholesterol and fat that would end up in my belly. I've visited this restaurant once before - last year - on vacation when this place was known as polo norte so i obviously knew that i would not be disappointed. i got the fatty special of vaca frita with tostones and maduros PLUS flan de coco. omg, i ate like a queen on the cheap and will obviously eat here again next year when it will, no doubt, be renamed something else.

We arrived a little after 11:00, after hearing they served a good cup of Cuban Coffee. We were seated immediately and brought water, but after that I am not sure what happened. Not one server was to be found and when they appeared they served the "locals" and left us sitting at our corner table. After 10 minutes I said if we are not approached in the next 5 minutes I was leaving. My boyfriend was not happy with my comment and said let's wait. He finally caught someone's attention. We ordered two Cuban Coffees and the Egg White Omelet with veggies, potatoes, toast and fruit. The coffee was delivered, yum!!!! Then the fresh fruit was served, a good variety and fresh. Finally the omelet dish arrived and it was one of the best. The omelet was cooked to perfection, the hash was fresh, hot and delicious! The food gets a five but the service and overall feeling, of not feeling welcome, dropped my rating down. I wish I could have rated Habanos higher. Welcome out of towners, please!

There's a lot of great Cuban food in Miami. This is not the place to go for it. Stopped here to pick up food and head to the beach. We got a cuban frita and croquetas. We waited about 20 minutes for these things to be prepared, which is pretty unacceptable, considering both of these should take no more than 5 minutes to make. Then we got to the food. Disgusting. This is hands down the worst frita you could possibly get in Miami. It came on a small hamburger bun. The kind that you can get a pack of 6 of at the grocery store. If you've had a frita from anywhere worth its salt, you know most places at least spring for the good Cuban bread. Then the actual frita looked like a nasty frozen patty of god knows what and tasted exactly like it sounds. The croquetas were okay. Not terrible and they were pretty big. Did not come with a slice of lime, because it's the worst Cuban place ever. The outside looked a little crusty and not in a good way. It still tasted fine but it had a look that was slightly off-putting. This is good Cuban food for people that have never had real Cuban food. You can get faster service, better food, and cheaper prices almost anywhere else.

Ho there, traveler! You're sweating your nutz off walking around South Beach, but now you're staring at a place called Polo Norte -- yup, North Pole. The former ice cream joint turned Cubano fooderia has money pork preparations and plenty of other Latino choices to keep you filled up full. As for cooling off, at least they have A/C.

Came here twice just to get cafe con leche (RIP David's Cafe). It was pretty good, very sweet as cafe con leche tends to be. The menu looked impressive.

Nice diner, good food, friendly staff... This is a no-nonsense place - what you see is what you get. Actually when it comes to the taste of the food you get a little extra, and i mean that in a positive way. The pizza was a deep pan pizza, it was really good. The Cuban Chicken Wrap was also tasteful and good. I like this place!

Walked into this place hungry after a long day at the miami beach convention center.... and just imagined to have regular cuban food... it is miami! But to my Surprise... it was cuban but with an extra touch n kick! We all ordered something different and we were all super satisfied. . their mariquitas with Cheeses and chorizo! !! OMG! Their croqueta preparada sliders... Delish! My brother had a chicken cordon blue that looked like a huge croqueta sliced in half with mozzarella & chorizo in it! He enjoyed every bite! Even my daughter's homemade key lime pie was different but great... and to top it all off servers were a pleasure to deal with! This place is a must come back!

Soooooo Idk where to start I paid 11 bucks worth of food and well let's see my "avocado salad" was horrible I've tasted plenty of avocado salads before and this by far the was the worst I've ever indulged pieces of avocados were even finely cut they looked extra huge like baby blocks and a little bunch of lettuce and a huge piece of tomato for all who knows avocado salad consists of Fresh avocados tossed with sweet onion, green pepper, tomato, cilantro and lime juice and not to mention all chopped nicely but that's number one I disliked then the palomilla I had was extremely dry and flavorless it was a quick stop for lunch and expected so much better so I'm never stopping by this place ever again

OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND VERY GOOD CUBAN FOOD!! After the horrible experience at Peppers, I walked less than three minutes South to Polo Norte. What a welcoming delight. The place is clean, bright and comforting. The servers wanted to serve and valued my presence as a customer. My server, Yoan, recommended the Arroz Imperial. I had never had it before. It was very good! I will return! I

We had just disembarked from a cruise ship and checked into our hotel in Miami when we wanted lunch. We came across Habanos Cuban Café, read some reviews on Yelp and thought it would be good to try. For the life of me, I can't figure out some of the negative reviews - I wonder if those people actually ate here. My wife ordered the chicken soup and a Cuban quesadilla. I had the Ropa Vieja. First, the meals were huge - neither of us could finish our meals. Most importantly, they were absolutely fantastic - truly equal to the dining room on our luxury cruise ship. Throw in a bottle of Native Lager for me, and lunch for two (with leftovers) was only $38. In addition to amazing food, the service could not have been better. Our server, Yohan, was professional and personable. He never seemed to be in a hurry and had some time to converse with us. In all, this was a wonderful experience, and one we will certainly repeat the next time we are in Miami Beach.

WARNING: this place is NOT vegetarian-friendly. If you expect to enjoy a meal without "surprise!" meat, make sure to announce your dietary preferences loudly and boldly upon entry. Items on the menu that one would THINK are vegetarian (e.g., rice & beans, sweet corn tamale, etc.) -- are indeed NOT. We even directly asked the server what was in the sweet corn tamale and she made no mention of pork. Then, when we were served the tamales, we say specks of pink in it so I asked her again about the contents... specifically if there was meat in it. Her reply the second time? "yes of course there is meat in it!"... as if it was obvious that a sweet corn tamale would have meat -- despite not having mentioned it before to us. Wtf. Also, we found chunks of meat in the rice & beans as well, so we didn't eat those either. PLEASE MARK ITEMS WITH MEAT ON YOUR MENU -- AND BE SURE TO MENTION PORK UPFRONT IF CUSTOMERS ASK WHAT IS IN THE TAMALE. I have never felt more disgusted and disrespected in my life. I came into this place super hungry and craving great Cuban food -- only to leave after one bite feeling sick and disappointed, with a completely lost appetite. Seriously feeling traumatized after this experience.

For Miami Beach, this place offers really good Cuban. It almost feels as if you're in another neighborhood, maybe Little Havana. Service is good and the food is pretty good too. We tried "palomilla" -a grilled steak, and "milanesa" a breaded version. Both were great and plentiful. I couldn't even finish my plate though I was hungry. I try to avoid eating out in this area, stick to bars mostly because I've been disappointed but this is a great alternative. Even the bathrooms are clean here, a rarity in Miami Beach. I would totally recommend.

Great local Cuban cuisine ... Good garbanzo soup ... And ice creams .. They also have wine and beer . And great service . Not all the waiters Speak English so come prepared to speak the local language ... Spanglish .

Excellent food for an excellent value. Service was very attentive; they helped us pick great dishes, as we were not very familiar with Cuban specialties. Large portions, delicious preparation and two great sides with each dish. I would highly recommend the sweet corn tamales and the lechon asado.

I came to this restaurant after going I the Miami Beach Courthouse for coffee and a croquette. The croquette was outstanding! The waitress said everything here is made fresh in house and I am sure that it is true based on how spectacular the croquettes were. I would definitely come back an recommend this place!

The service was decent but the food was warm, at best. I ordered the fried pork chunks and they arrived room temperature. Overall the flavors were good but they have to work on their preparation.

Good food. Not super authentic Cuban but good. They did have many seasonal beers including the Sam Adams Chocolate Stout. We ordered the tostones with shrimp which came topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Yum! And for the main dish I ordered the pulled pork guava pizza and he ordered the pork churrasco filet with mango chimichurri. Both were good and the personal pizza pretty large. To me the best part of the meal was the desert. We shared an authentic cortadito and Cuban ice cream. I would go back.

Food is really good, portions are big!! the Only bad thing is they should change the service, really slow, and not friendly.

DELICIOUS!!! The massitas are ridiculously good! The grilled chicken is a hit or miss they sometimes cook it for too long but the onions it's topped with makes it all come together. I'm a huge morro fan so that and the sweet plantains are also great!

  • Navia G.

Delicious and reasonably priced. I tried their pizza which was phenomenal! I tried the mushroom pizza which was boring, but still yummy, and the pork bbq guava pizza which was so delicious. They're called Cuban-style, but I guess that means deep-dish and cheesy, because that's how they came. I had a bite of a friend's Cuban sandwich and that tasted great. My other friend ordered the house salad, and that was gross. It was served with shredded iceberg lettuce and sliced (hamburger style) tomatoes. It's definitely casual dining in here which is reflected in the prices. A welcome respite from the overpriced meals offered along Ocean Drive.

While talking to our bartender at our hotel she suggest to come here in order to avoid paying outlandish prices for sub-par food. Overall, it was pretty good, but it was somewhat dead here and I kinda wish I did eat on the strip as we were technically tourists, so why not go for the tourist experience? The food was good, but my gf who is Hispanic was surprised that the waitress didn't seem to know much about the food when she said a few words with a Spanish flavor. The waitress seemed a little bit lost. Again, the food is good, but this isn't the hot spot in Miami. I kinda wanted the hot spot, but oh well.

Despite my fitness goals, if I cheat on my meals I want said cheat to be perfect. Habanos Cuban is (almost) there, with their huge portions of chicken milanese (Cuban style chicken parm). The portion is huge enough that you will have enough to take home for lunch of dinner the next day. Their moros were tasty and the fried plantains (maduros) were just greasy and perfectly sweet. I also liked my cortadito; it was just enough caffeine to wrap up the night and drive home. Service at the bar -complete with the old style round cafeteria spinning chairs - was pleasant and there's a TV by the bar. Where they do fall short is on the sauce. Sauces like BBQ and marinara are my cheat, and this milanesa was a touch on the dry side. Maybe I'm spoiled by another Cuban restaurant, but a good chicken milanesa should be generous on the sauce. My chicken entree this last Wednesday disappointed in that sense. Here's hoping they fix that soon!

Maybe not the worst but definitely not the best experience for Cuban food. Its got a nice little location right on the corner and seemed like it'd fit the bill for four hungry chicks but we weren't all that impressed with the offerings. The pina colada looked great but the taste was off. They added too many coconut shavings and sprinkled cinnamon which completely altered the taste. Sadly, I was not able to finish the drink...if you wanna add garnish, add a pineapple, throw a cherry in, but cinnamon!? No thanks! Not on a pineapple and coconut based cocktail. I ordered the fried plantain pizza and it tasted like a fried plantain pizza. Exactly what I expected....nothing more nothing less...happy they didn't add chocolate shavings or anything ridiculous to it. Service wasn't bad but nothing was as memorable as the bad pina colada I couldn't finish which sadly left me depressed. Habanos... You owe me a pina colada without all the added fluff and I'm coming back for it so be ready!

This review is based on 3 different experiences I've had here. First time I came to have breakfast as well, I don't know if it was that I was hungover or maybe they had a different cook, or maybe a little bit of both but the food tasted different, the first time was better than this one, first the sausage was different and this one my waitress even though she was nice she messed up my eggs, I said over easy and they came out sunny side up, but I have to admit they looked so perfect that I went for it. The toast was a little too toasty for my taste, they didn't have "natural" OJ the one you find at any Cuban place, no idea why, she didn't tell me why. Overall the food is good, the service is good too and the price!!!!! Oh my!!!! You can't find that here on South Beach!!! All that for less than $10 :-O So, in the end, I would give them the benefit of the doubt, I will be back, for sure!!! PS: Their regular food items are yummy too. They have daily lunch specials :).

So a fellow Yelper recommended this place for the guava ice cream. So of course since I was in the area I had to try the ice cream. I mean anything guava is good in my book. This place was within walking distance to Lincoln Road. We got there and there were only a handful of customers eating (they also offer Cuban food) as well as ice cream. We sat down and all ordered the guava ice cream. A single scoop is a pretty standard size scoop (which was plenty of ice cream) along with an almond flavored cookie. As much as I love guava, and I did like this ice cream, I felt that it needed a more pronounced guava flavor. The texture of the ice cream was a tad grainy but not enough that I didn't enjoy eating it. I wouldn't make a special trip to get the ice cream, however if I was in the area again I would consider getting a scoop.

Wow, I enjoyed this place. I know a bit about Cuban food, and even spent 4 weeks travelling in Cuba itself. I ordered a hamburger and chips (not the potato type of chips) and paid $10.00, plus tax. The hamburger was very large and in all fairness, I never did see that sort of hamburger in Cuba itself. I suspect that if whatever is generally available in Cuba were to end up in Miami restaurants, then that restaurant might not stay open for that long. It's a bit like trying the average Mexican taco in the USA. I wonder how many of us would actually like to visit the average Cuban restaurant in Cuba itself. So, I think that Cuban restaurants in the USA have to "Americanise" their menus a bit to suit their clientele. I'm sure that there are exceptions though. If I was closer to Calle Ocho, I'd probably go to Cafe Versailles. However, if you're in Miami Beach and don't want to cross over into Miami, then I'd recommend trying out Habanos. It's not a posh restaurant, but it's certainly good enough for informal situations. My girlfriend ordered a half chicken, black beans, cassava, brown rice and plantains for $11.00 plus tax. There was a lot of food and she couldn't finish it. It tasted very yummy and I finished it off for breakfast the following day. I wasn't that keen on their cafe con leche though. I suspect that they don't use the dark roast beans (or maybe they're blended with something else), or maybe the barista was having an off day. The Key Lime pie was OK, but not worth $5.00. Stick to the main dishes if you visit here. The location is very good though, as it's really close to Ocean Drive.

I am sorry but one cannot find authentic Cuban food in South beach and this is proof. Stopped in here because this place got good reviews on yelp but when in Miami, my bf and I want authentic Cuban. Best stick to Little Havana people. The service was decent but I did order a sangria that never came. The food tasted ok but seemed to try to meet the needs of tourists that do not know about Cuban food and make it fancy. I got the lobster bisque which is good and the tostones appetizer. The drizzle on top had too much orange flavor and it was shaved plantain. I was not a fan and my bf was not a fan of the pulled pork sandwich. If you prefer more tame or more upscale type flavors then this would be a good spot but not for authentic Cuban. Three stars because the food was decent but I would not return.

Ironic, to call a restaurant the "North Pole" when it is located in hot, subtropical Miami! My friend and I decided to come by when we got out of a late showing and could not think of a place open that late on a Sunday, so this was his suggestion. I wasn't in the mood for Cuban food, but I saw the high reviews and said "sure, why not". We were quickly seated at a booth, and scanned the menu. We each decided to get a sandwich and split it. He ordered the Sandwich Cubano and I got the Pan Con Bistec. My fries were pretty good and my friend helped himself to some, as he got the plantain chips, of which he wasn't too fond. We split the sandwiches so we could each get a taste of the two varieties. His bread was a bit too greasy (as in, greasier than the French fries!), although mine wasn't. I am not Cuban nor do I know much about Cuban food, so perhaps the recipe calls for butter on Sandwich Cubano but not on Pan Con Bistec, I don't know. I'd also have to say that the pork in his sandwich and the steak in mine were somewhat dry, not juicy, so that plays into my deduction of stars. The food was okay, not spectacular. I'd say it's along the quality (and even the look and feel) of a Latin Cafe chain restaurant. I ate once at Casavana in Miami Lakes, and I'd have to say that place was much better than Polo Norte. Same with Rio Cristal, though I haven't been in about 8 years, so don't quote me on that. I have not tried Puerto Sagua or David's, although those come recommended, so I will have to try them for comparison. I do want to mention that the service was very friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed the Tres Leches dessert a lot. That being said, you can find other Cuban restaurants off the beach where the food is as good or even better, and a much better value.

Oh Emm Gee! I just can't get enough of this place! It has come to the point where I'd make a trip from New York to Miami, just to eat here. Sorry, Chalan on the Beach, I plead guilty of two-timing here, but what's a poor man to do? The temptation is strong and the flesh is weak. The first time I ate here, I was surprised that they did not have Ropa Vieja and Fricasee on their menu, but I wanted to try this place for what it had to offer; not for what I had enjoyed at other Cuban restaurants. So I had the Vaca Frita and loved it. Tonight, lo and behold, they had Ropa Vieja on their "Saturday Specials" menu (see how this place has a connection with my heart?)! They also have Ropa Vieja sliders and Vaca Frita (both carne and pollo) sliders! And if that wasn't enough for me to fall head over heels, they have guava ice cream and mamey ice cream! There is something inexplicably attractive about a good-looking server who can't speak much English and primarily uses sign language and smiles to check on you. Scho Schweet!!! It makes it perfectly OK for them to slightly mess up my order; I'm a reasonable man, and I understand that errors do occur where there is a language barrier! See, cute people bring out the best in me! Plus, everything here is delicious, so even if they get me something slightly different from what I had asked for, it is still very tasty. The only negative (and hence the 4 stars rather than 5) is that every time I've had the cafe con leche here, it's always been somewhat cold. I love cuban coffee, and I like my coffee scalding hot, so that was a slight disappointment. I suspect they add cold milk to their freshly brewed coffee.

  • Roland S.

I do not understand why this place get a 4 star average. Our fist impressions were not great, a bad atmosphere, the waiters who we're chilling in a corner and not even noticing us. But maybe this was a classic yelp experience. Turned out not to be, food was dry and ingredients were missing altogether, i had pork in stead of beef. My dad got something else then chicken, twice and both appetizer and main course were served at the same time. Good thing we could send half the food back so that we eventually had a warm entree. Then there was the attitude of the waiter, not giving a thing about its customers, forgetting to bring our drinks and seemingly refusing us cutlery. If in Miami beach, find yourself something else.

Love this place. I am from LA and came to Miami for the first time and wanted some great cuban food. We happened to run into this place and decided togo in because we saw that the prices were fairly reasonable. The servers were super kind and helpful. The guy was cuban so he knew how to give us great advice on authentic Cuban food. I ordered the appetizer of the tostones, my brother ordered the biste empanizado, my friend ordered the Cuban sandwhich, and another friend ordered the tops vieja. We also ordered the garbanzo as an appetizer and the arroz moros to share. We ended up trying each other's dishes and we all loved every single item. It was amazing. All 4 of us give this place 5 stars. Go to this place. You won't regret it.

I really wanted to like this place. The juices are great if you don't mind sugar being added to it, which they do, but they are fresh squeezed. The watermelon was fab. The chicken soup was okay but not great. The BBQ chicken pizza was awful. My steak Milanese was dry, I asked for marinara sauce and I was given cold Ragu, needless to say unedible. Then I asked for cafe con leche and it was delicious. Food = awful Drinks= tasty but loaded with sugar. I personally will not return.

Some highlights and lows. Cubano sandwich was dry. Vaca Frita was flavorful. Plantains and yucca fries with sauce were great. Fast service.

WORST SERVICE POSSIBLE.. The staff is totally rude ( if you are not spanish speaking). food was average at best. Pizza really NOT good. Prices are reasonable, but when you consider the quality and taste. NOT SO MUCH !! Asked to speak to Manager, I was told he didn't speak to customers - I could only speak to my waitress. Tables were sticky - when we sat down - had to ask them to wipe it off.

I was trying to find a quick and easy dinner spot that was kid friendly on South Beach. This place was perfect with its diner feel. I'm still a novice at cuban food, but they guided me in the right direction. Portions are massive! I had an churrasca steak with yuca and my wifte had the shredded pork. Even the kids steaks and fish were adult size portions. Everything we ate had amazing flavors, and the servers were very friendly and very accomodating with our 3 kids.

wonderfully delicious! i would suggest going for their pork entree. the beef we had was quite tough and chewy. big portions :) you definitely can share the plate with someone. our waitress was nice but a bit condescending and pushy. but hey, whatevs. the food is damn good.

My boyfriend and I had gone to this restaurant once before and the food was amazing. This second time when the food came out I asked our waiter if it was possible to switch one of the sides because it was a lot of food and he said that it was OK. When my bf started to eat the beans realized that the taste was not good! (it tasted like canned beans) So he told our waiter that he did not mean to complaint, but the beans tasted really bad and he wanted to see if he could get something else. The "manager" came out with a horrible attitude and made us feel like we had a problem or we were looking for an excuse to take advantage of the restaurant which ruined our lunch plans. I have never been treated which such poor costumer service at a restaurant! The owner came out and said that the manager was from Spain and his attitude was different from our culture. I don't care if that person do not know how to speak to your clients, but I do not need to understand that. I'm the costumer and I wanted an apology! If the manager that you currently have has that problem, then have him mopping the floors, because eventually he is going to affect your business reputation. The owner was nice enough and didn't let me pay the bill. BTW, I did not eat my food, I left it on the table. I hope that you can hire better people to help you to run your restaurant!

Now this is an amazing restaurant. The food is superb. The prices are great and the portions are large enough to take leftovers home with you. I love this place. Never had a problem there and I frequently go. I highly recommend this place. Great cuban food

The churrasco & arroz moros was great. I plan to try their chicken next time just to compare with other Cuban restaurants.

I cannot vouch for the food but the desserts and ice cream are THE BEST in south beach. They have lots of fruity ice creams and cuban desserts. I did not the food but it looked good and miami locals love it.

This place is just absolutely excellent. I've been on the beach for several years now, and this is my new go to place for a casual dinner. The food is great. Cuban American food, all thoughtfully prepared. Huge portions. Incredibly cheap for the beach. $9 for 1/2 pollo frito with two huge sides?? Tostones? Tamale? Si! A total home run. They also have the best conch fritters I have ever had, ever. And I have had conch fritters from Lauderdale down to Key West to the Dominican Republic. There's a reason why the cops eat here. It's because this place is awesome.

This is an awesome family-style Cuban restaurant in the heart of South Beach. I had one of the specials, "rabo encendido," or oxtail stew. It was succulent! For sides I had rice and morors (black beans), tostones (fried yucca patties) and an avocado salad. I also had sangria. Everything was excellent, the prices were very fair for the portions they serve and the service was excellent and with a smile--in Spanish, or in English!

I'm a Miami Beach resident of nearly 50 years, and I tried out Polo Norte yesterday for the first time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Mind you, the name was usual for a Cuban restaurant but I heard from many SOBE locals that the food was good. On SOBE, I normally go to Puerto Sagua or David's or Las Olas for Cuban food but I'm always gamed on supporting new SOBE businesses. I had a simple Cuban steak sandwich and fries was quite happy. BTW, the staff was quite friendly and the serve was fast. I'm definitely going back again to try out their main dishes. Overall, Polo Norte is awesome!

I finished getting my hair done in the area and was starving. I heard they had just opened a Polo Norte on the beach & decided to try it out. I called in my order as I usually would at the Hialeah location & they were very nice & answered all my questions. I decided to go for the chicken sandwich & chips. When I walked in to pick up my order I noticed it was a full house which is always a good sign! My order was ready and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Aside from the service being great I must say it was probably the BEST chicken sandwich I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the bread was soft & the chips on the side were delicious! The location is great, right in the heart of Miami Beach and the food and service deserve 5 stars! Good job Polo Norte :)

Food is good since the last time, but Horrible service oh should I say no costumer service at all!! They should train the servers to smile before to start working and that 18% included she didn't deserve it.

If you want to try good Cuban food, CLEAN and good service, then you got to visit this place. Beware of the portions, BIG, but just as good. No wonder they are always busy. I'm so happy they came to the Beach. Salmon and Churrasco are my favorites, Cafe con Leche is the Best and the desserts, what can I say, you have to try them. Almost forgot, try the sliders, the combo sliders, they are like mini-burgers but Cuban style, excellent!

First time trying Cuban food and we fell in love. We had antijitos as an appetizer and shared the churracaso that came with a delicious chimmichurri sauce. Food portions are large and I'm glad the server recommended we share a plate. Food os very reasonably priced. The service was great, a nice change from what you get on ocean drive! My fiancé and I liked this place so much we returned the following day for lunch and tried the BBQ pork guava pizza and the Cuban sandwich. Both were very tasty, but just beware the pizza is very cheesy! I also tried their mamey shake, however, it was to sweet for my taste. Overall, great local spot!

I've eaten here twice for breakfast, and twice for dinner, I loved the food! When I came in for breakfast I sat myself, which is fine, but the crumbs all over the seat should of been cleaned off, and not by me, ordered my breakfast, it came placed at my table, but the server should of noticed I had no silverware, I couldn't get their attention so I actually got up and went got my own silverware underneath the hostess desk! Being in the restaurant business I only have one thing to say to the staff pay attention to the details. I'm going to give this restaurant three stars because the food was exceptional and the price was fantastic, and I will go back again.

We went for lunch on a weekday. Service was pretty slow for the amount of people that were in there, but the food was good, and their daily specials all sounded great. The Havana Burger was the best dish at the table.

Omg! If you like lasagne your going to love polo norte's. I've lived on the beach for years and the lasagne out here sucks... for $9. And 3 garlic rolls you cant beat it.

I LOVED this place! Every time we go there it's always a great experience, until last night, we went anxious to have a bite and the place was packed! It was aroind 10:30 pm There was a family of 6 people in front of us waiting, the hostess, skinny Cuban girl with short hair, told us she was full and we needed to wait. I asked for our server "Paola" so the hostess opened the door ( hostess stand is outside ) and started yelling the servers name like if she was in Hialeah. The server after several yells came outside and the hostess said " these are your regulars, they're asking about you " and Paola waived at us, said something to the hostess and went back inside, the hostess made a really stupid comment to the family that was in front of us " ha ha she's so busy she doesn't want anymore customers" we walked away, I was so disrespected, I worked in the restaurant business so did my husband. We never treated our "regulars" the way this person did, for the fact, that a regular will go see us, and tipped us extra for our splendid and welcoming service, I felt discriminated by this ignorant Cuban little girl. She was not professional at all and she shouldn't work in the hospitality business maybe at Mangos or La Covacha... Definitely not going back there, food taste delicious, service was good until the servers became like the rest of the personnel in south beach... Crappy service for tourists.

Visiting from San Diego we wanted to find some great Cuban food and Yelped this place. Totally didn't disappoint! The place was clean, brightly lit, and very nice hip decor. It was Friday about 2:00 and we got a few of he daily specials. Yohan was our server and he was very helpful with making recommendations. I have the Churrazco Steak Sandwich, which was huge and very delicious! It came with French fries that were seasoned perfectly and crispy, hot and fresh. My wife had the Habanos Stuffed Chicken, with sides of sweet plantains and arroz moros. Her plate was equally delicious and perfectly prepared. The sweet plantains even had a wonderful caramelized glaze that was amazing. Service was excellent and timely. We finished with the Flan de Dulce de Leche, which also was in-freaking-credible! Took a Cafe con Leche to go (yes, it too was fantastic!) Totally coming back here if we hit up Miami again!! ***Ask for Yohan, he was great!

Was here Saturday night while on vacation in Miami, this is another place I wish I would've found sooner! There were 4 of us (3 were men who know how to eat). I ordered the chicken wings w/ mango & guava BBQ sauce (I could take the guava BBQ sauce as a shot lol) for my entree I ordered the vaca frita. The portions were huge & definitely worth the cheap price of the menu. The plates put the boys to shame. I would definitely come back again for the price & quality of the food you can't beat it!

Pizza Cubana has finally arrived in South Beach. Polo Norte is a Cuban chain restaurant with an emphasis on Cuban-style pizza, Cuban classics (e.g., vaca frita, pan con bistec) and ice cream. The restaurant has booths, table seating, and counter service. There is also an ice cream area for those who wish to come in a grab a cone for the road. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. We ordered a personal sized chorizo pizza, vaca frita de pollo, two batidos, and two post-meal cortaditos. Bill came out to about $30 (tip was not included). Everything we ordered was great. The vaca frita de pollo was served in a generous portion and prepared more on the crispy side, which is just the way I like it. The personal pizza was about the size of a large plate, and was very cheesy in the tradition of pizza Cubana. The restaurant was clean and had several flat screen TVs that were showing various sporting events. They also serve beer and wine. This place has now become my go to spot for Cuban food at the Beach.

If it is for the food I'd give a 4.5, but the service is kind of lost, I went couple of time on my vacations in miami and I could tell I got kind of good service from one waitress once but after that nothing to tell... I could go again but don't expect any good service at all!

I love Polo Norte. I have been eating at the Hialeah location for years, and I was thrilled when I heard they were opening on Miami Beach. Everything I have had at the new location has been top notch. If you like Ice Cream I suggest the Copa Lolita which brings two scoops of ice cream, and a flan in the center. Have them substitute the regular flan for a cheese flan and I guarantee you'll be in heaven. Love this place!
